Tracking the radical right
A new, radical right is swiftly expanding its political, economic, and narrative influence – and it has been doing so for decades. Through extensive intellectual resources, a sprawling ‘very online’ ecosystem, and well-targeted funding streams, it is a movement has built real power. Too often, groups committed to opposing it have underestimated their strategies, their theoretical sophistication, their networks, and their capacity to reshape public discourse.
We’re changing that.
Interlink is a new intelligence and convening project, hosted by the Autonomy Institute, dedicated to understanding and countering the new right – in all its forms and formations.
What is Interlink?
Interlink sets out to do three main things:
1. Build deep, actionable intelligence. Using advanced data-gathering and analysis – web scraping, large language models, network mapping, automated discourse analysis – we can produce detailed maps of the new right’s web of individuals, organisations, funding flows, and ideas. This includes both national and international dimensions, treating these forces as what they are: international nationalists who coordinate across borders while cultivating local movements.
2. Convene leading experts. Interlink will bring together a roster of thinkers working at the cutting edge of research on the radical right. Through seminars, discussion sessions, and targeted engagements, this Expert Convention helps make theoretical sense of on-the-ground data, turning analysis into insight.
3. Support campaigns on the ground. Interlink will connect directly with campaigns, investigators, politicians, and civil society organisations. We provide intelligence briefings, narrative analysis, network research, and oppositional research to those who need it.
What will Interlink produce?
- Network maps of new right individuals, organisations, and funding streams
- Discourse analysis of the ideological frameworks driving these movements
- Social media analysis of the ‘very online’ right ecosystem
- Briefings and intelligence for campaigners, journalists, and politicians
- A strategic memory bank of what has worked in opposing the new right
- Political education engagements, from public events to one-to-one sessions
Built on proven foundations
Interlink is not starting from scratch. The Autonomy Institute has already done significant work in this space: mapping connections between the global radical right and corporate actors for the ITUC; building the Authoritarian Stack (in collaboration with Francesca Bria); investigating the business networks behind Reform UK; and charting the UK corporate links sustaining climate disinformation.
Why now?
Because the stakes could not be higher. Without a serious, well-resourced opposition to the radical right, everything from climate action and migrant justice to feminism and democratic equality is at risk. Understanding our opposition is the first step to building the tools to tackle it.
